Worst customer service

Worst customer service I've ever experienced. I had a flight booked: Melbourne-Sydney-Santiago. My situation changed, and I wanted to board the flight in Sydney instead. They will be doing check-in in Sydney, so all I want to do is forfeit my Melbourne to Sydney flight. They wanted to charge me USD1300 to put me on a flight I'm already on. I waited 1 hour to get through to someone, no flexibility at all from the airline. It really feels like there is no care for customers at all, it's all just a way to make money. Very disappointed by an airline that used to have such a good reputation.
