Malicious or incompetent, or both (pre-flight experience)

You think you've selected seats on their broken website/app, but your choices haven't been saved. So you ask customer service for help and they book 4 seats wrong and completely forget the other seat. Hard to know if this is incompetence or malice, probably both. Not to mention they refer you to their "partner" airline to book seats for the other leg of the journey, and the "partner" airline refers you straight back to Delta's broken website/app.
